(Bear with me and excuse my ignorance. I'm sharing what little I know and you are educating me, so I'd like to continue the conversation.)
I am aware of the history and the current news, including the corruption you mentioned.
FACT: Jewish people can pretty much settle in wherever they live, in or out of Israel. If you don't bother them, they won't bother you. They are a self-sufficient community. It's been like forever. So it can't be that they want to war since they usually settle and go about their everyday lives. They were doing that in Germany until …
BY CONTRAST: A lot of Muslims do want to fight. Perhaps not the ones who have adapted to Western living standards. But the ones who want to establish a caliphate and institute sharia law. There are probably divisions among them just like there are Zionists and secular Jews. Maybe that's why there are terrorist groups. “ Terrorists” is what outsiders would call them. The Muslims who are fighting and going to war probably view themselves as being “zealous for the faith”.
The “official” news reports for the public say "Hamas versus Israel". But even without having access to “unofficial information”) (i.e. secret classified documents, some of which were probably stored in Trump's bathroom), I kind of sense that “external parties” (maybe Iran and Russia or others) are somewhere "behind the scenes" instigating and/or keeping the conflict going.
I sort of see a lot of similarities between Israel and America. In some ways, Netanyahu and Trump are similar. The difference is, at least people in Israel are trying to get Netanyahu out. In the USA, Trump is out and people are hoping he never gets back into the political arena. But if he does ________. (???)
This is an interesting conversation. Not many people want to discuss this topic. Thanks for talking to me about this. The “voices in my head” don't know very much.
(P.S. I enjoy watching British comedy TV. Even though it's fiction and poking fun at politics, one of the characters said something that made me wonder. The British Prime minister was discussing a problem he was trying to tackle. His advisor said: “Just start a war in the Middle East. It will cause a distraction and the people won't be looking at you.” That was supposed to be humor, but to me, it was a scary thought.)
