Cubans are physically beautiful people. But they are also intelligent and very talented. I grew up in Miami, Florida and remember meeting Cubans who lamented having to leave their country to come to America. This was during the 60s and 70s. Can you imagine? They didn't want to leave! My Cuban friends always told me if things changed they would happy to go back to Cuba.
William Gutiérrez-Levy, the Cuban-American who appeared in J-Lo's music video, says that as child he remembered standing on the beach in Cuba and being able to see America in the distance and wanting to be able to live here. He was born in 1980. Cuba is a gorgeous country. But Cubans born in 1980, still wanted to leave that beautiful country. WHY?
I now live in Texas where people are willing to risk death to leave their country and come to America. Fidel Castro died in 2016 and Cuba is pretty much the way he left it.
The reason there are still "colorful, classic American and Soviet-era cars" is because of 50 years of sanctions. Obama lifted those sanctions. It's 2024 and no surprise there are still people who try to escape Cuba and come to America. They probably think to themselves: 'Florida is just 90 miles away. I wonder if I can reach it.'
The Cuban Revolution of 1959. My history recall is hazy but … I think revolutions are supposed to make people free. That's what the revolutionaries always promise the people. There is no point in having free education when you can't use your education to better yourself and your country.
