Going Down Memory Lane: Classic Cars

How I passed on the opportunity to own classic cars. What a memory!

When we were a young married couple, my husband and I often used public transportation. The buses in Miami, Florida were fairly reliable and usually took us where we needed or wanted to go. But when we started having kids, we decided we needed a car. We bought our first used cars from a private owner. That “first” we sold to get a better car from a car dealership. That “better” car was destroyed in a wreck that my husband survived. They were both foreign cars. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. It’s just that the mechanics we took our cars to were very expensive. We decided to buy a Chevrolet car. They were easier and less expensive to fix.

We owned two Chevy cars ~ not both at the same time. One automobile at a time was all we could afford. We had a Malibu (the year was circa early 70s) and an Impala (the year was circa late 60s). If we had maintained them, they could have become priceless. However, when it came to cars, my husband and I were neither collectors nor visionaries. LOL. We just wanted reliable transportation to get around with the kids. So we sold our cars (at dirt-cheap prices, mind you!) to get a larger family-style car. When I think back on it now, I could just kick myself! What a memory!
