I also grew up in Miami and remember when the Cubans fleeing Fidel Castro were allowed to enter the USA. Many entered via Miami, Florida. As a result, I was introduced to Cuban culture because I attended school with them. It is no surprise to me that Cuban customs and traditions can be traced back to African culture. That;s what I gathered from many of my Cuban friends. I am also an "I Love Lucy" and definitely remember Ricky Ricardo singing "Babaloo".
