I can remember when my high school started teaching “Black History”. That was in the 70s. They made a valiant effort. But I thought … what about Native Americans, Asians, and other nationalities that contributed to building this nation?
Why isn't there just one textbook for US History with ALL OF US IN IT?
It's 2025 and this question is either still on the table OR intense efforts are being made to pretend it doesn't matter!
So let's try a different approach to avoid being deprived.
Knowledge consists of knowing by being taught OR knowing how to find out what you need to know by teaching yourself.
Good teachers are worth their weight in gold, especially if they teach you how to think for yourself so that you can teach yourself. IF your teachers did that for you, then you are NOT “ill-equipped”.
Your teachers are only with you for a short while. Whereas, you're going to be with yourself for the rest of your life!
If your teachers did not equip you and you learned on your own, then you are NOT “ill-equipped”. Meaning? You can find the missing puzzle pieces just like how people search for hidden treasure.
If you learn something - whether by a teacher or on your own - SHARE the wealth. Don't hoard it or keep it to yourself. “Each one, teach one.”
One more thing. You can't make a person want to learn something. If they want to remain ignorant, they will.
