One of my favorite things is watching remakes and then watching the first movie or series for contrast and comparison. Sometimes I like the first. Sometimes I like the remake. Sometimes I like both, but that's very rare. Most of the time, I don't usually like the remake.
For example: The Manchurian Candidate with Frank Sinatra was much better than the remake with Denzel Washington. It's probably because I'm old school and enjoy classic movies.
Another example is remakes of old sci-fi TV series. Rod Serling was a one-of-a-kind. The original Twilight Zone series reflected his genius. A remake or renewal of this series that had the same "aura" just was not possible.
