Our HUBPages experience is similar. My profile also showed that I have been there for 9 years (https://hubpages.com/@cmoneyspinner1tf). I stopped being active there when the new owners made it difficult to leave comments. It was discouraging.

The PLUS with HUBPages is that it is a revenue-sharing site. The MINUS is that I used to actually earn from Amazon links but the new owners made that difficult too.

The PLUS with Medium is that you can easily publishing your content AND leave comments to engage with other writers. That makes it a true “community”.

By contrast, HP doesn't feel much like a community anymore. Whatever! I don't own the site, I just go with the flow. My monthly earnings are $2. It used to be more. Not sure why earnings went down.

However, neither the Medium Partner Program nor the Tip feature generate lot of earnings. Still! Medium is a great platform. I created an account here long before they even started trying to help the writers earn for their content. I consider it a work-in-progress for the Medium Team. They put a lot of sincere effort into to making this a respected platform. They deserve a pat of the back.
