This PROVES that in America (and probably in other countries too!) just because there is a law, it doesn't mean the law will be obeyed or enforced. If only a law could replace or even erase EVIL PEOPLE!
Even so, Juneteenth should be celebrated as a milestone in American history marking this fact aptly spoken by Maya Angelou: "Still I Rise".
The poem may be written from a woman's perspective but it has universal application for the oppressed.
One time I was watching a Bollywood movie and they started singing "We Shall Overcome" and the Indian guy said: "That's my favorite song!"
When it comes to people who are being oppressed, it's always about freedom.
