Uuum?? I can go into my dashboard and look at my statistics and see which articles had views and how much income each article generated. But that's private. I can not look at others unless they allow me to.
So when you say you know of others who garner more views, how do you know that? Are you looking at the claps? Because not every article reader gets claps? Do you have friends who let you peek at their dashboards?
Anyway! This is my humble opinion, for whatever it's worth. I hope you stay with Medium and don't get discouraged.
Regardless of how you got your information, your prediction is off! I have been with Medium since 2014. Medium is not turning into a pyramid scheme. I don't think it ever will.
But whenever there is a system where it's possible to earn money from your activity, there will always be others who try to exploit or game that system.
P.S. I remember when Medium didn't even pay the writers. But those writers still used the platform. WHY? Because this is a fantastic publishing platform. It was Medium management who decided: "You know what? We have really good writers. We should come up with a way for them to earn from their writing work.” The site owners took the initiative and I believe they work very hard to ensure that others don't abuse the earnings system. As time passes, I hope things will get better and better.
